Lake County, IL - Candidate for Lake County Board District 7, Carissa Casbon, announced today that she has been endorsed by Lake County Sheriff, John Idleburg. 
 
Sheriff Idleburg said, “As a teacher, school board president, small business owner, and mom, Carissa Casbon will be a strong voice for our community on the Lake County Board. Carissa has shown an ability to advocate for her community, serve with compassion, and has demonstrated the leadership that is needed now more than ever. Carissa Casbon will be an asset to the Lake County Board, and I am proud to wholeheartedly endorse her..”
 
“I am honored to have the endorsement of Sheriff Idleburg, who has already brought much-needed change to the Lake County Sheriff's Office," said Casbon. "I've had community members ask whether I support "defunding the police." Certainly not. Police officers are human beings, just like you and me. They're not perfect, but most are committed to protecting and serving, and put their lives on the line to do so. Our community needs a Lake County Board Member who will work with our Sheriff to invest in quality training programs to make sure that good officers are equipped with the skills they need to serve our diverse Lake County community and keep us all safe. I pledge to do so."

 

John Idleburg has served as Lake County Sheriff since 2018.

In case you missed it in the Daily Herald, Carissa announced that she has been endorsed by Congresswoman Lauren Underwood and her Farm Team PAC, a political action committee founded by Congresswoman Lauren Underwood to elect exceptional candidates to state and local office across the 14th congressional district.

 

“I’m running for the Lake County Board to bring transparency, responsibility and a sense of community to our county government. That’s why I’m proud to receive the endorsement of Congresswoman Lauren Underwood and the Farm Team PAC.

Carissa Casbon joins 13 other state and local candidates across northern Illinois receiving an endorsement.  

 

The Farm Team PAC is dedicated to supporting exceptional candidates running for state and local offices across the 14th Congressional district in Illinois. Congressman Brad Schneider Endorses Carissa Casbon for Lake County Board

In case you missed it, Carissa announced that she has been endorsed by Congressman Brad Schneider.
 
“I’m running for the Lake County Board to serve our community. Part of that is communicating with fellow elected officials on all levels of government. That’s why I’m proud to receive the endorsement of Congressman Brad Schneider. I look forward to working with him."
 
Congressman Schneider said, "Carissa Casbon has been a committed leader in our community for years. Congressman Brad Schneider has served the Illinois 10th Congressional District since 2017.

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin Endorses Carissa Casbon for Lake County Board

Carissa Casbon announced today that she has been endorsed by U.S. Senator Dick Durbin.
 
“As a Lake County Board member, I will advocate for our community with representatives from every level of government. I’m honored and proud to have the trust and support of Senator Dick Durbin,” said Casbon. 
 
Carissa Casbon is a candidate running for Lake County Board District 7, which includes most of Gurnee, part of Third Lake, and the surrounding unincorporated areas. 
 

U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth Endorses Carissa Casbon for Lake County Board District 7

Candidate for Lake County Board District 7, Carissa Casbon, announced today that she has been endorsed by U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth. 

 

“Senator Duckworth is an American hero who is known for reaching across the aisle to get things done. I’m truly honored to have her support."

 

Senator Duckworth said, "Carissa Casbon is the kind of leader we need right now on the Lake County Board. As a mom, a proven community leader, teacher and small business owner, Carissa understands the issues our families are facing. She has the character and experience to help lead Lake County through the COVID-19 pandemic and in the years to come.”

 

Senator Tammy Duckworth has served Illinois in the Senate since 2016. She also served two terms in the House of Representatives. Senator Duckworth served as a helicopter pilot in the Iraq War.

Lake County, IL - Candidate for Lake County Board District 7, Carissa Casbon, announced today that she has been endorsed by Medal of Honor recipient 1st Sergeant Allen J. Lynch. 
 
Of the announcement, Sergeant Lynch said, “Carissa Casbon has shown she is motivated to help the 40,000 veterans of Lake County. Carissa is a strong leader who has demonstrated a willingness to listen to all sides of an issue and focus on solving problems to get things done. I have dedicated most of my life to our country’s veterans, and I enthusiastically support Carissa Casbon for Lake County Board.”
 
“I am deeply honored to have the endorsement of Sergeant Lynch, who’s selfless, heroic actions on the battlefield and subsequent career of advocating for veterans represent the best in us. I’m committed to helping the veterans of our county. Our service men and women answered their call to duty. We must answer ours by caring for them.” 
 
Sergeant Allen J. Lynch served in the 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) from May of 1967 until June of 1968. During a firefight in the Vietnam War, he rescued three wounded soldiers and stayed behind to protect them while the rest of the company withdrew. He single-handedly protected the wounded men against enemy attack until they could be evacuated. For his actions, Lynch was promoted to sergeant and awarded the Medal of Honor “for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty.” 
 
Since the war, he has dedicated his life to advocating for veterans as Veterans Benefits Counselor and later Chief of Ambulatory Care with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, as Executive Director of the Vietnam Veterans Leadership Program in Illinois, and then as Chief of the Illinois Attorney General’s Veterans Rights Bureau until his retirement in 2005.
